The City has a proud coal mining history, and coal remains a robust and significant contributor to the state and national economies. Lake Macquarie City is home to the Eraring Power Station. Eraring is the largest power station in Australia, with a generating capacity of 2,880 megawatts. Fuelled by black coal, it is a highly efficient and flexible power station that plays a crucial role in maintaining a reliable supply of electricity to NSW.
